Mudfoot Theatre is seeking a collaborator/percussionist/
A Bit About the Show
Yabber: a Folk Opera is an outdoor theatre/music performance, which incorporates mask and puppetry. The show is designed for everyone, made for adults, but should also activate children’s curiosity. The tale is still in the process of being uncovered, but it takes place in a surreal universe that mirrors our own, and considers the origin of all that is no good. All of the masks, puppets, and instruments in the show are being made out of found and reclaimed materials.
This development process will be working with a flexible show outline and most of the building of puppets and instruments should already have been completed in May. That said, there is always more building to be done, which everyone will likely be involved in.
The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a competent percussionist: has a good sense of rhythm, experience on a drum kit is an asset, has experience in music/playing as an ensemble or band.
Other assets include:
- A background in theatre.
- Comfortable in a collaborative, non-hierarchical, creation process.
- Some familiarity with mask and puppetry.
- Happy to tinker, build and solve problems along the way.
- Comfortable working outdoors for extended hours in varied weather.
The artist will be paid a flat rate of $1,200 to $1,700 for the 14 days, dependent on experience.
