Marketing & Communications Coordinator
Adult Recreational Choirs (ARC) is entering its 20th season of providing creative and challenging opportunities for adults to enrich their lives through musical expression and public performance. Growing to four choirs under the ARC umbrella, all programs are non-auditioned and feature eclectic and diverse repertoire in a community recreational setting.
ARC is a non-profit society depending on grants, donations, and memberships as revenues.
ARC is a highly diverse membership. Members are between the ages of 18 to 80, coming from varied backgrounds reflecting the diversity of our community and creates a stimulating supportive community environment for all. ARC’s vision is, “Awakening, nurturing and sharing the magic of voices in harmony.”
ARC has an immediate opening for a marketing and communications coordinator. This is a part-time contractor position that is critical to assisting ARC with internal and external communications as we implement a post-pandemic re-entry plan.
Position Summary
Reporting to the executive director, the marketing and communications coordinator will oversee the communication requirements of all programs, ensuring that planning and communication occur in a timely manner and that program needs are met. The marketing and communications coordinator will also manage ARC electronic communications, including website content and online presence through social media. The marketing and communications coordinator works closely with the executive director, artistic director, associate artistic directors and project managers.
What You Are Responsible For
- Fosters a culture of cooperation, involvement, and informed participation across all ARC programs through member engagement in the activities of the organization.
- Coordinates communications to the membership, alumni, and friends, and to the community at large through our Mailchimp e-newsletter system, ensuring that the system is kept up to date.
- Prepares for, tests, and implements all steps required for successful membership registrations. This includes back-end website updates, developing and implementing an effective communication plan, troubleshooting, supporting members with registration and effective communications throughout the registration process
- Assists members with account concerns and issues (reset passwords, access to Zoom, etc.)
- Oversees ARC’s online presence (Facebook, Vimeo, and website, among others), including developing content for social media sites and the website.
- Updating and maintaining content in the members Area of the website (member resources, documents and system calendar, etc.).
- Effectively responds to comments, questions, and external inquiries on ARC social media.
- Development of marketing strategy and calendar in collaboration with executive director.
- Sourcing and creating visuals/graphics for e-blasts & social media while maintaining the ARC brand and feel.
What You Bring to ARC
You have a passion and are supportive of adult choirs and Calgary’s artistic community. You are a strong communicator, are a self-starter and are extremely self-disciplined and organized. You are very comfortable with a variety of software programs including website development, social media, databases, and electronic communications software. Digging in to troubleshoot when an issue pops up is not a concern for you. Finally, you’re available to work some evenings and weekends and are excited to support in-person events when we start to host them once again.
What ARC Can Offer
This position is a part-time contractor position offered through to June 30, 2021, with a high possibility of extension. The position is remunerated at $24/hour with 37 hours provided per month. The ARC team works remote and can set their own working hours with willingness to be available for team and organizational meetings from time to time.
