Yahoo! This year we’re getting a head start on dusting off our cowboy boots and saddling up for this year’s stampedin’ season. We’re looking for two to three mountain enthusiasts and meaningful jewellery lovers to help us at our Maker’s Market booth during this year’s Calgary Stampede. Welcoming anyone 17 years old or older with a passion for connecting and speaking with people to apply!

This is a short two-week position with varying hours and commission per cent on every sale you make. You’ll have free access to the Stampede grounds on your scheduled days and will receive a sweet staff discount on our jewellery (oh and we should probably also mention that we tend to treat our staff to the occasional delicious fresh lemonades and mini donuts we all can’t get enough of).

We are a fun, community-oriented, small handmade jewellery business out of Calgary, Alberta. We create quality, everyday-wear jewellery inspired by the mountains and the beauty of the Canadian landscape, with each piece being unique, meant to capture your story and keep your memories close. Home of the Mountain Ring, with over 70+ mountain necklaces in the likeness of actual mountain ranges, like the Three Sisters in Canmore. We are mountain babes with a passion for storytelling and creating silly dancing + sassy content to put a smile on your face and remind you that we’re real people too.

What you will be doing:

  • Engaging Stampede goers and selling to them with a positive and upbeat attitude
  • Handling cash and card payments using our point of sale system
  • Promoting Mackenzie Jones jewellery and educating customers on our brand
  •  Restocking items and making sure the booth and display look tidy
  • Helping with booth set up and take down

What you bring to the team:

  • Your friendly and bubbly personality! You’re passionate and bring that tireless energy attitude — you’re always ready to greet a customer with a huge smile on your face!
  • Excellent customer service and communication — we take pride in the personalized customer care that we provide and it is one of the reasons our customers love us.
  • Adaptability and a team player — the crowds at Stampede can get big real fast, we’ll all need to work together to make sure every customer gets the attention they deserve, but also to keep an eye out for those looking for a quick “five finger discount.”
  • Ability to think quickly on your feet (problem solving) — you feel comfortable handling customer questions and working through minor issues that might come up.
  • Attention to detail is key for optimal sales and for our inventory records.
  • Experience in retail, events or trade show sales would be an asset, but not required — don’t worry, we’ll train you!
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time — Stampede days can be loooong.
