Share your Story of Love and Disability
I’m a Calgary-based visual artist who’s collecting stories and photos to challenge perceptions around love and disability. This project is open to romantic couples where one or both partners identify as disabled.
As a young disabled woman, I struggled through doubt and insecurity in my search for a romantic partner. After meeting my husband nine years ago, I realized that much of that struggle was caused by the lack of representation involving couples with disabilities. Through my exhibit, I seek to celebrate the extraordinary, ordinary nature of these relationships in paintings of myself and my partner and digitally collaged photos and quotes from contributors. This project is a collection of your stories to challenge perceptions around love and disability and is open to romantic couples where one or both partners identify as disabled.
There is no fee to participate and responses will be collected until May 31, 2023.
