Arts Professions Act

Arts Professions Act

The Government of Alberta is looking for input on ways it can better recognize and support artists.

Modeled on the 2009 Saskatchewan Statute, which gives formal recognition to artists, their representative associations, their freedom of expression, and their economic and contractual rights, the government has stated it is committed to adopting an Arts Professions Act that is meaningful and relevant to artists.

In order to have the most-up-to-date information possible, the province is inviting members of Alberta’s arts community to provide feedback through a short online survey.

It is gathering feedback on legislative and policy components being considered to verify they:

  • Recognize and raise awareness of the importance of the arts sector.
  • Address some of the unique challenges artists face.

The survey is designed to verify whether proposed actions would be meaningful to members of the arts community and to provide an opportunity to share any additional comments on this initiative.

The survey should take approximately 10 minutes to complete and will remain open until October 3, 2019.
