It’s that time of year. Submissions for the 2020 YYC Music Awards are now open!
Celebrating the award gala’s fifth anniversary, the 2020 YYC Music Awards will celebrate artists and industry professionals in 25 categories, with the addition of Children’s Recording of the Year, Recording Studio of the Year, and Venue or Presenter of the Year.
Also, to ensure inclusiveness, gender-specific categories have been removed, seeing the introduction of Solo Artist of the Year category.
Other notable category changes for 2020 are renaming the Zackariah and The Prophets Memorial Award to Zackariah and The Prophets Emerging Artist Award, as well as introducing Cultural Recording of the Year to replace the World Music category.

Recording Submission
The album or single must have been commercially released between March 1, 2019, and February 29, 2020, to be eligible. This time frame will be strictly enforced, and the YYCMA will not accept submissions for materials released outside this time frame. Singles may not be part of a collection previously nominated.
Who Can Apply?
Artists from the Calgary area, including Airdrie, Banff, Canmore, Cochrane, Strathmore, and areas up to a maximum 125 km radius of the city of Calgary.
Deadline: To be considered for a 2020 YYC Music Award, submissions must be received by 11:59pm MST on May 31, 2020. No extensions will be granted.
