The Emerging Digital Artists Award

The Emerging Digital Artists Award (EDAA) is Canada’s first digital art award designed to foster experimentation in the work of emerging artists and create opportunities for those working in digital media. Resisting the notion that screen time lacks space for critical engagement, the EDAA champions a new generation of digital creators who challenge us to see the world through a different screen.
The 10th edition of the EDAA includes: Five(5) $5000 prizes.
New for 2024! Five artists receive a $5,000 prize in one of the following categories that celebrate a range of digital media production:
- Still Image
- Moving Image
- 2D Interactive
- Extended Reality
- 3D Installation
The 2024 award also features an impressive lineup of collaborators, including four guest jurors from the digital and contemporary arts communities and a new series by Diana Lynn VanderMeulen. We’ll share more about each collaborator in the coming weeks!
To be eligible, you’ll need to be:
- A resident of Canada
- At least 18 years of age
- An emerging artist
We consider an emerging artist to be someone within the first eight years of their professional career, beginning with their first solo or group exhibition outside of an academic context (ex. a thesis show) in a museum, public or commercial gallery, or artist-run centre.
Applicants are not required to be current students or to have completed a degree in Fine Arts. We encourage all emerging artists matching our definition to apply.
To be considered for the 2024 Award, please submit a completed online application form by August 5, 2024, 11:59pm EST, including:
- A curriculum vitae (CV) in either PDF or .DOC format
- A link to download and/or access your digital artwork
- A short artist biography (100 words max.)
- A written statement about your work (200 words max.)
- A confirmation that you agree to the Terms & Conditions
