Alberta Nonprofit Survey

The listing period for this opportunity has passed.

The Alberta Nonprofit Sector survey is now open. Help tell the story of the nonprofit sector in Alberta

This year, Calgary Chamber of Voluntary Organizations (CCVO) is focusing on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the nonprofit and charitable sector in Alberta.

Your contribution will be essential in providing credible data to the evidence-based research for policy advocacy, for both your nonprofit and the communities you serve. The data will help inform CCVO’s public policy work to support the sector, which will include an overall picture of the current economic conditions facing nonprofits, and the push for the ongoing provision of critical services throughout Alberta.

Our 2020 State of the Alberta Nonprofit Sector report will be informed by both survey results and in-depth, personal feedback from sector leaders in Alberta through focus groups and interviews. The objective of the report is to understand not only the current and near-term impact of the pandemic but also the long-term impact—including recovery. This report will provide robust data to government officials, foundations, and other stakeholders, emphasizing the need for support to ensure a thriving and vibrant province.

This is our 10th year conducting the survey—the only one of its kind in the province, gathering meaningful data about nonprofits in Alberta. Like last year, our survey questions are simplified and narrow in focus, in order to reflect the state of the sector in an unpredictable environment. However, the strength and accuracy of the data we collect remain crucial in providing nonprofit organizations and other stakeholders with information not available elsewhere.

The survey will take approximately 10 minutes to complete. Responses to the survey will not be traced back to the respondent and personally identifiable information is not captured, unless voluntarily offered in any of the comment fields. In order to gather a snapshot of the sector, we would prefer only one submission per organization. The person in the best position to answer this survey is likely a senior staff member.

CCVO uses the results of this survey to advocate for the nonprofit sector and to report:

  • The shared experiences of nonprofits in Alberta that help inform decision-making and communications.
  • Priorities of the sector that help inform strategic planning and policy advocacy.
  • The strengths and challenges in the sector, helping to educate and inform a range of stakeholders, including funders and government.

At the end of the survey, there will be an opportunity to express your interest in joining us in a focus group or interview planned for this summer. In appreciation for completing the survey, CCVO invites your organization to enter a draw to win a Parks Canada Discovery Pass. The pass is valid for 12 months and will cover unlimited admission for up to seven people in a vehicle to national parks, marine conservation areas, and historic sites across Canada. However, please note that due to the current health pandemic, the pass will be purchased after Parks Canada restrictions are lifted.
