Learning Lab Date: April 24, 2024
Time: 6:30 – 8:30pm
Location: Arts Commons, Arts Learning Centre (ALC)

We are thrilled to announce the 4th Learning Lab series at Arts Commons, continuing our exploration of Art for Social Change. With the generous support of Calgary Arts Development, we invite you to join us for the upcoming Learning Lab titled Black Art is Our Resistance.

With this hands-on learning lab, we will delve into the creative and transformative power of the arts as a catalyst for social change. Led by Wunmi Idowu and Priscille Bukasa, participants will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in African dance movements and explore the power of spoken word.

Join Wunmi as she leads you through an engaging African dance workshop. She will provide a foundation for creative inquiry that allows for the development of choreography focused on social change. Social change and community engagement is integral to the teachings, rituals, and performance of African dance. Then, with Priscille, we will explore the power of spoken word poetry and learn how to use your voice to ignite conversation, advocate for change, and amplify marginalized voices.

This event is free and open to anyone interested in attending.
