How We Touch the Light: Embodiment, Technology and Collaborative Place Making

This week at EMMEDIA! How We Touch The Light: Embodiment, Technology and Collaboration, an artist talk by New York-based Anna Oxygen.

Please join us for this absolutely free artist talk at EMMEDIA’s main space on Thursday, June 29, 2023 starting at 6:30 for a very special one-time artist talk with Miss Oxygen.

Following her show at Loophole the day prior, Anna touches on our relation and collaboration to ourselves, each other, and the technological realm. Anna Huff aka Anna Oxygen’s work spans performance, sound, technology, mixed media and interactivity. She frequently engages intersections of body, voice, objects and ritual to reveal social and technological structures that tie individuals to communities.

She has special interests in interdisciplinary pedagogy, collaboration and community building across digital and hybrid platforms and often engages members of local communities as participants in her work. Her most recent work explores feminist speculative world building, working between live performance and volumetric 3D/VR landscapes.

Huff is also a founding member of media performance collective Cloud Eye Control. She has released several albums of music, most recently a track for record label Kill Rock Stars’ 30th Anniversary compilation. She was a 2017 performance fellow at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art. Additional performances and presentations include the New Museum, NYC; Redcat, Los Angeles; MoMA PS1; and Festival A Mil, Chile; among others.

She is an Assistant Professor of Digital Arts and Integrated Media at Hamilton College. She previously taught at Cornell University’s Department of Art, and the CalArts Center for Integrated Media.

Donations are most welcome.
