Artists Monthly Mental Health Meetup

Hosted by the Perlin Foundation for Wellbeing

Calling artists across Calgary, to participate in a conversation that improves mental health literacy for yourself and those in your life. Acknowledging that your mental health has been impacted by an illness, or that your art is part of the process of coping with your life, is a way of strengthening your connection to yourself.

These conversations help validate our processes and work to support a sense of belonging. You are warmly invited to join our on-going monthly conversation around art, mental health, disability, and more.

Our first meetup is Wednesday, February 24 at 7:30pm and runs for an hour. These conversations inspire positive change for mental health literacy in Calgary. They are meant to assist us with developing resilience as a community. One in which we face life and it’s trials as a collective, and learn the necessary information to become more durable, to choose our own adventure with confidence.

To register for this free event, please email and you’ll receive the Zoom login information.

The host for the evening is Stacey Perlin, a long-time Calgary producer, artist, and mental health advocate.

This meetup precedes a talk by Dick Averns, Engagement Coordinator, CARFAC Alberta (Canadian Artists Representation/front des artistes canadienes) on Saturday, February 27, 2021, 11:00am, hosted by the Calgary Public Library. This illustrated presentation provides a historical grounding for disability arts alongside current artistic approaches fostering mental wellness. Participants will learn about mad arts, cripping, DDMAAC, DDMSTC, and discover a cross-section of art strategies and organizations, locally and beyond, supporting a wide cross-section of our society.
