Assistant Volunteer and Event Coordinator
The Lougheed House Conservation Society is seeking an outgoing full-time assistant volunteer and event coordinator. Are you someone who would take pride in developing engaging museum experiences? Position Summary
As the assistant volunteer coordinator, the successful candidate will work closely with the programs manager and other members of Lougheed House to foster and grow our volunteer team, including onboarding, training, and scheduling volunteers. You will also work with the head gardener in the ongoing coordination of their volunteer programs, cultivation, and maintenance of the Museum’s public gardens and greenspaces.
As the Assistant Event Coordinator
You will help support and administer the Full Bloom Festival (August 13 – 14, 2022). This weekend event celebrates all things Lougheed House, with emphasis on fun, excitement, and creativity. You will be working with artists, volunteers, programming, and beer and wine gardens with the goal of growing Lougheed’s house community and its role in Calgary historic and arts development.
Qualifications:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt your communication style based on your audience.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with empathetic attitude and a willingness to learn.
- Previous experience in major event planning and implementation in the arts and culture sector.
- Some university/college or training in museum studies, performing arts, history, communications, education, or a related field is preferred.
- Passion for Calgary’s arts and culture scene and an interest in developing unique and diverse cultural events, programs, or workshops.
- Willingness to learn and willingness to share your knowledge to help train others.
- Applicable computer skills and experience with some administration work is a must (Microsoft Office suite, Windows, email, search engines, etc.).
