At-Home Relief Printing

The deadline for this opportunity has passed.

Interactive Live Online Demo
Date: Tuesday, November 24, 2020, 6:30 – 8:30pm
Location: Zoom

Tune into this online demonstration with printmaker Matt Dunlop as he guides you through the rewarding world of home printing, taking your already carved block through all the stages to get to the final print. Although it might seem complicated at first, it is entirely possible to get your relief project printed and to have just as professional an outcome as in the studio, with a few tools, some desk space, and a couple of key skills.

Matt will introduce you to all the tools and materials you’ll need to print your block as well as demonstrating step-by-step how this can be achieved at home. He’ll discuss the differences between various papers and inks and give some recommendations for what works best in this context.

This demonstration is for anyone new to the concept of home printing who would like some guidance on how to get their relief projects printed at home, as well as those printmakers who haven’t been able to get to the studio in a while that want to keep the creative juices flowing.

Note: This demo will cover the basics of home printing. If you would like to know how to get your block to this stage, please refer to the cutting linocut online demo offered on November 17, 2020.
