Call for Board Treasurer
Are you an experienced accounting or finance professional with a love for the arts?
W.P. Puppet Theatre Society (WPTS) is seeking an energetic professional to join our board as treasurer!
About Us
Our mandate is to use the power of puppetry to impact positive social change. Believing that puppets have a special role as representatives and that art has a responsibility and opportunity to mirror and shape reality, our goals are to:
- Provide tools and builds skillsets to express voice.
- Empower and develop healthy and engaged individuals.
- Foster empathy and inspiration by connecting diverse audiences
The treasurer position is integral to us meeting these goals. Be part of something important and meaningful. Build community with other like-minded individuals.
Our Ideal Candidate has:- Professional accounting and/or finance experience
- Related post-secondary training and certifications
- A broad network of business/community connections
- A genuine interest in doing impactful work in the arts community in Calgary
- Alberta resident, preferably within the Calgary area
What we offer:
- Opportunity to use your skills to impact positive social change and hands-on volunteer opportunities.
- Board level experience in a Charitable Not for Profit Organization with complex financial reporting requirements.
- We have an excellent bookkeeper for our daily statement/reporting preparation and use QuickBooks Online.
Term and Tasks:
- Board members are asked to serve a 3-year term. They may be nominated anytime through the year, with a majority Board vote.
- They are asked to attend some WPTS or other events as WPTS representatives.
- Spend about four hours per month preparing for meetings.
- Treasurer is one of three signing authorities and makes themselves available when cheques, grants, applications and other documents need to be signed.
- Oversee our annual notice to reader/internal board review.
- Review and reports on our finances to the Board quarterly.
- Assist with budgets and contracts, cost/fee analyses.
- Meet with the board once a month on Zoom or in person.
