Call for Indigenous Exhibition Proposals

Indigenous Artists, Artist Groups and Curators

The Art Gallery of St. Albert is looking for artists to feature in our 2024 calendar year. We encourage First Nations, Métis and Inuit artists, artist groups, and curators who are interested in exhibiting in our 2024 calendar year to contact us with an exhibition proposal.

Artists have a profound contribution to make in sharing and communicating the experiences, knowledge, stories and worldview of Canada’s First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples, while inspiring continued action from all treaty people to further the goals of truth and reconciliation. As such at least one exhibition each year at the gallery is reserved for an Indigenous artist, group or curator.

To propose an exhibition, please contact our curator Emily Baker, at

In your email, please include a short description of the exhibition, artworks or project that you would like to propose, at least three images, and links to any artist or project websites or social media pages.

Within a few days of receiving an exhibition proposal, the gallery will contact the artist to set up a phone call or virtual meeting. The meeting will give the gallery and the artist the opportunity to get to know one another, discuss the artist’s practice and create an individualized plan for assembling a submission to present the artist’s work to our selection jury, which will be hosted in late March 2023.

Deadline to express interest is Tuesday, February 28, at 5pm.

With three exhibition spaces, we can host between 12 and 14 shows per year, sharing a wide range of artworks, styles and experiences with our community. The artists chosen by the jury to exhibit at the Gallery in 2024 will receive Canadian Artists’ Representation/Le Front des artistes Canadiens (CARFAC) exhibition fees.

For more information, or if you have any questions, please visit the website, or contact Emily Baker at or call 780.651.5745.
