Call for Jewellery Artists
The Baker’s Dozen — The Earring Edition: November 2024
Location: Sparrow Artspace (De Waal Block, 4 St. NE)
Deadline: April 15, 2024
We are looking for 13 Calgary jewellery artists to collectively collaborate within Sparrow Artspace for the month of November 2024. Our vision is to promote community amongst jewellers and engage with the public so that we can draw attention to some of the uniquely talented artists in Calgary.
We encourage applications from candidates who identify as part of racialized, Indigenous, and/or 2SLGBTQ+ communities.
This collaboration will run for the month of November 2024 at the Sparrow Artspace, De Waal Block (4 St. NE, Calgary). Public hours will be Thursdays – Saturday,s 11am-6pm. You will have access to additional studio hours,TBD.
We are looking for 13 jewellery artists that will come together to showcase the diverse talent of this city by representing different techniques, mediums and styles.
The residency is for one month, your earrings will be displayed and for sale for the entire month. We will be planning weekly workshops on simple jewellery making techniques for the public. If there is a jeweller that you would like to collaborate with, a technique or information that you would like to share, please let us know. We would love to hear it!
Submit by April 15, 2024.
*I understand that you may want to exchange a pair of earrings closer to the date and that is not going to be a problem, we just need to get a strong sense of your style and and crafts-persons-ship!
