Call for New Play Submissions
Urban Stories Theatre
Submission deadline: Extended to June 30, 2024
Urban Stories Theatre and The Knox Theatre Collective is now accepting new play entries for our 2024 Play Off Series Competition. Two successful playwrights will have their shows produced by UST and KTC as part of our 2024 Season. The winner of the series will be determined by judicial and audience vote with a grand prize of a dramaturgy session.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Open to any playwright who resides in the City of Calgary and surrounding area.
- The play must be an original work in English or have translation of non-English dialogue.
- Plays that have been previously produced are ineligible.
- Plays must be considered a one act (25 – 30 minutes running time).
- Play must have a small cast (2 – 4 characters); diversity of casting and characters is strongly encouraged.
- Plays must have one set/location.
- Theme: Examining Control
To Apply:
1) Separate cover sheet with your name on it and a brief informal biography. Please do not have your name anywhere on the manuscript. This will be a blind review.
2) PDF of your script is preferred but docx and doc will also be accepted.

Decision by end of June depending on number of applicants.
