Call for Powwow Dancers

Wild Mint Arts is seeking three powwow dancers for ongoing productions. Both Nimihitowin! and Powwow Mash-UP! are touring theatre performances. We hire on a contract basis, with anywhere from two weeks to 12 months’ notice for shows and tours.
We are looking for someone flexible, and open to theatre shows as well as traditional powwow shows. We are looking for LGBT friendly, non-discriminatory folk to join the team. We like to build on people strengths and what they can bring to the performances outside of powwow dance.
Skills:
- Theatre experience/dancing in theatres and large stages (not mandatory but preferred).
- At least two powwow dance styles, with a willingness to learn more.
- Experience in choreography (team dance) (not mandatory but preferred).
- Jigging is an asset.
- Willingness to travel (provincial, national, international).
- Comfortable or willing to learn to sing (optional).
- Must attend rehearsals as per contracts (rehearsals are Mondays, 3:30 to 7:00pm).
- Other dance styles are appreciated (contemporary, tap, hip hop, ballet, jazz, etc).
