Downstage is welcoming submissions for programming for their next season in Motel Theatre, a flexible 50 seat black-box performance venue located at Arts Commons (225 8th Ave. SE).
Emerging and established artists and performing arts companies working in all disciplines who are interested in showcasing their work in Motel Theatre are invited to submit proposals for consideration.
We are primarily seeking proposals for one or two-week time slots, though longer projects will also be considered where possible. Upon the successful scheduling of a proposal, artists or companies will be contacted to arrange more specific details of the tenancy. Proposals will be accepted on an ongoing basis until all available dates are filled. Scheduling of projects will begin June 2020 and we anticipate availability to become limited very quickly.
For charitable organizations and theatre groups, the weekly rate for Motel Theatre is $1,030 for the first week and $790 for additional weeks in the same booking, plus applicable ticket fees. For all other rentals, the weekly rate is $1,550 for the first week and $1,310 for additional weeks in the same booking, plus applicable ticket fees.
The usage fee reflects the inclusion of a 25% weekly subsidy provided by Downstage, reducing the cost from the weekly fee set by Arts Commons.
Please Note: For the 2020/21 season, a weekly booking runs Monday to Sunday.
