In a Berlin nightclub, as the 1920s draw to a close, a garish Master of Ceremonies welcomes the audience and assures them they will forget all their troubles at the Cabaret. With the Emcee’s bawdy songs as wry commentary, Cabaret explores the dark, heady, and tumultuous life of Berlin’s natives and expatriates as Germany slowly yields to the emerging Third Reich. Cliff, a young American writer newly arrived in Berlin, is immediately taken by English singer Sally Bowles. Meanwhile, Fräulein Schneider, proprietor of Cliff and Sally’s boarding house, tentatively begins a romance with Herr Schultz, a mild-mannered fruit seller who happens to be Jewish.

Audition dates:

For more information and to select an audition date visit Cabaret – Front Row Centre – Auditions.

Please come prepared to present the following:

  • Two (2) contrasting songs selected from either musical theatre or early Jazz genre. One demonstrating character, and one demonstrating vocal range. Please come prepared to sing the best one (1) minute cut of each song as we may stop you. We request that you do not sing a song from Cabaret.
  • One (1) short dramatic monologue (1 minute max).

Auditioners should upload the backing track for their songs of choice to the website when submitting their audition information. No acapella auditions are accepted, and no accompanist will be available. Please note that you may also be asked to do a vocal range test as part of your audition.

In addition to providing vocal support, our Kit Kat Klub ensemble will require powerful and experienced dancers. Dancers can choose to audition without fulfilling the song or monologue requirements. However, they must prepare a one (1) minute dance number in the style of Fosse/Jazz. Please specify in your audition submission if you will be performing a dance number.
