Young Canadian Composers Awards | Emerging Screen Composer Awards
SOCAN Foundation awards emerging Canadian musical and audio-visual composers and songwriters producing original works that deserve to be recognized.
Young Canadian Composers Competition
Deadline: May 15, 2025
Four prizes will be awarded in each of the five categories: large ensembles, chamber music, solos and duos, electroacoustic and choral.
The prizes are as follows:
- 1st prize – $3,000
- 2nd prize – $2,250
- 3rd prize – $1,500
- Young Composer Prize – $1,500 (for composers aged 21 or younger)
- A grand prize of $5,000 for the best overall work may also be awarded

Emerging Composers in Screen Music Competition
Deadline: May 15, 2025
A 1st prize of $3,000 and a 2nd prize of $2,000 are offered in each of the five categories:
- Best Original Theme (opening or closing)
- Best Original Music – Fiction
- Best Original Music – Animation
- Best Original Music – Documentary
- Best Original Music – Video Game
