Composer-in-Residence Program
The listing period for this opportunity has passed.
The Composer-in-Residence Program provides an Alberta-based choral composer the opportunity to compose new music for Choir Alberta and its members. One composer will be appointed for an 18-month period (January 2021 to June 2022), and will be asked to write three pieces for mixed choir:
- A commission for the Alberta Youth Choir, our annual honour choir for singers aged 16 to 22.
- A short work for the winning team from Run For Music, our annual fundraiser event.
- A consortium of mixed choirs from across the province, to be coordinated by Choir Alberta.
These pieces will also be added to our lending library and made available to Choir Alberta members after the completion of the residency. The composer-in-residence may also be asked to present one 75-minute choral session at Music Conference Alberta on a topic pertaining to their compositional interests.
The selected composer will receive a fee of $5,000 for their services.
