Springboard Performance is hiring a containR Art Park facility manager for the 2021 season.

The containR facility manager organizes and supervises initiatives and programming at Springboard’s containR Art Park in the vibrant neighbourhood of Sunnyside. This position works closely with internal Springboard staff, as well as contracted artists, companies, organizations, and individuals in order to sustain engagement with and use of the containR site that fits within Springboard’s mandate.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and attend Springboard community events, productions, and initiatives at the containR Art Park.
  • Provide excellent customer service through positive client relationship management and the delivery of on-site event logistics.
  • Troubleshoot event issues that may arise on site and escalates information or issues appropriately.
  • In collaboration with on-site event staff and security, ensure the venue is run in a safe, orderly and disciplined manner in accordance with the conditions of all health and safety, fire, and building regulations, as well as containR procedures that include, but are not limited to: licenses, fire code/fire lane policy, sound restrictions, health and safety requirements, City of Calgary policies, as required.
  • Responsible for communicating and enforcing venue policies and procedures with event stakeholders.
  • Ensure that a high level of cleanliness, safety, and hygiene is maintained at the site and associated areas, and identifying hazards and problems if they arise.
  • Responsible for communication with contracted artists, curators, volunteers, renters, and organizational partners (including contracting, liaising, onboarding, and scheduling).
  • Maintain the containR event and production schedule and reporting information (regarding engagement and programming).
  • Supervise and provide mentorship to summer students, volunteers, and subcontractors on site, as necessary.
  • Identify, pursue, and steward partnerships, funding opportunities, and sponsorships, as necessary.
  • Nurture new relationships with community partners and small businesses.
  • Confidently and professionally represent Springboard Performance.

Experience

  • Knowledge and interest in performance, public space, community building, and engagement and event planning.
  • Time management, office administration, and organizational skills.
  • Proven customer service skills.
  • Experience with supervision, student mentorship, and volunteer coordination
  • Experience working with tools and/or audio equipment is a strong asset.

Personal Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to deal effectively with a variety of people and resolve conflict when necessary.
  • Maintaining a calm demeanour when dealing with clients/tenants/vendors/community members.
  • A positive and proactive attitude.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, dependability and a high level of team collaboration and service orientation.
  • Ability to multi-task effectively.
  • Works well in a fast-paced, self-motivated environment.
  • Knowledge of the Calgary arts sector.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working outdoors.

Additional Details

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
  • This position is open to current post-secondary students and 2021 graduates.
  • This is a contract position which will begin in March 2021 and run through October 2021, with the potential for extension.
