Honens invites applications for the position of coordinator, digital media & communications.
About Honens
Headquartered in Calgary, Honens is Canada’s only international piano competition. The triennial event, considered one of the most prestigious of its kind in the world, awards its Prize Laureate $100,000 CAD as well as a three-year comprehensive Artist Development Program which, through opportunities for professional growth and global exposure, helps to navigate the rigours and realities of establishing a performance career in classical music. The annual Honens Festival features a balance of ticketed and free community-based concerts and events which highlight an impressive roster of local, national, and international artists and is programmed to engage audiences of all ages, orientations, backgrounds, and levels of musical sophistication.
The coordinator, digital media & communications supports all elements of online marketing and communication and works to achieve Honens’ values of excellence, creativity, integrity, and engagement in all areas of activity. This role is a full-time, one-year maternity leave replacement contract. The coordinator, digital media & communications reports to the president & CEO.
Responsibilities:
- Maintains Honens’ online presence.
- Manages Honens website to ensure a positive and informative experience for all users.
- Manages integration of Honens website with Spektrix (Honens’ CRM).
- Develops and implements social media strategy that aligns with the global marketing strategy in partnership with Honens’ public relations agency.
- Devises unique, creative ideas for new content and enhancements that advance objectives and strategic plans.
- Creates and distributes email broadcasts.
- Champions and maintains Honens’ voice and brand in all communications (digital and otherwise).
- Develops all in-house videos including weekly Honens @ Home video series and announcement videos.
- Devises new ideas and produces the Honens Piano Podcast.
- Works with the director, marketing & communications and third-party video production team for creation of fresh and innovative video content.
- Develops all in-house marketing materials, such as Laureate information sheets, event invitations, Laureate Circle event programs with support from director, audience and donor engagement and director, marketing & communications.
- Develops Honens employee materials, including name tags, business cards, email signatures etc.
- Works with external graphic design team on larger design projects such as annual membership renewal and Festival and competition programs.
- Manages build and implementation of new website for 2022 Honens Prize Laureate.
- Works with director, marketing & communications to develop, design, and schedule all announcements (including the announcement of the 2022 Honens Prize Laureate).
- Main point of contact for external IT provider.
- Supports Honens team with in-house IT issues and works with external IT provider where appropriate.
- Builds and maintains strong relationships with marketing, tourism, and community partners.
- Enriches partnerships through excellent service and timely communication.
- Works closely with all members of the Honens team, supporting each member where necessary.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing/communications/public relations or a technical degree in design and multimedia.
- Proficiency in all Adobe products, especially skillful in Adobe InDesign and Acrobat is required.
- Proficiency in most Microsoft products in an Apple environment.
- Proficiency in video production tools in the Mac environment (iMovie or Final Cut Pro).
- Knowledge of Spektrix considered an asset.
- Highly organized and detail oriented.
- Knowledge and interest in classical music considered as asset.
- Team-oriented in nature, focuses on larger success of the team and organization rather than personal success.
- Must be available to work flexible hours which will include evenings, weekends, and holidays during the 2022 Honens Festival and 2022 Honens International Piano Competition.
