Untold Stories Theatre is seeking volunteer costumers from Calgary and surrounding areas — of all backgrounds and experience levels — to join the production team for Hello, Dolly!
About the Role
We’re building a team of costumers to help create the colourful world of Hello, Dolly! Each volunteer will be assigned 1 – 3 cast members and will construct costumes using measurements, concept designs and fabric provided by Untold Stories Theatre.
What You’ll Do:
- Create select costumes for 1 – 3 cast members
- Conduct fittings for assigned cast members (and others as needed)
- Meet firm deadlines for promo photos, dress rehearsals, and performances
- Make revisions as requested by the costume designer, director(s) or production team
What You Should Have:
- Beginner-level sewing machine and hand-sewing skills
- Basic knowledge of alterations and fittings (training available)
- Ability to work independently and take projects home
- Strong time management and ability to meet deadlines
- Access to your own sewing machine (required)
- Comfortable interacting with cast and team members
- Knowledge of Victorian/1890s fashion is a strong asset
This is a great opportunity for sewists looking to explore costume design, build a portfolio, or take on a creative project with a lighter workload.
