Calgary is a bustling innovation and tech city; the stage is ripe for building an ecosystem that brings diverse industries into the fold. Creatives and Tech Connect is a networking event that has a twist – a focus on industry and building toward an inclusive innovation sector (city building). Hear from a panel of industry leaders on the value of intersections of Arts in Tech and Tech in Arts. Let’s explore a bigger vision for our city and the potential of our region when we bring these communities together to work on city building, startup development and economic development.

This event is for individuals in the creative industries and tech community to network and socialize. Bring your curiosity, positive attitude and openness to connect with new people to grow your business network.

Who will be there?

Creatives and Tech Meet Up is co-delivered by Innovate Calgary and industry guests.

Jordana Armstrong has 10 years of experience in business, technology and innovation sector. Jordana is a seasoned professional supporting founders, innovators and the Calgary ecosystem around social impact and entrepreneurship. Her diverse set of skills includes venture building, governance, technology consulting, measurement, investment readiness and public private partnership.

Femi Lawson is a rising international phenomenon and talent. With his roots lying in the luscious lands of Nigeria, and a partial home base in the diverse metropolitan city of Toronto, Femi is a mosaic blend of cultures, and as such his work around the globe as a cultural curator is defined by his unrelenting goal to unite people. Femi has worked with brands such as Vice Media, Live Nation, the NBA, Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), Rogers Media, Youtube, and many more.

Josh Dalledonne is the Associate Director of Social Impact at Arts Commons. A leader in Calgary’s arts and culture scene and an advocate for equity-seeking artists and communities, Joshua Dalledonne is a theatre, festival, and live performance producer, programmer and arts manager. With a keen interest in interdisciplinary and intersectional practices and a commitment to inclusive, diverse, equitable, and accessible programming, Josh believes in the power of connection, collaboration, and kindness.

Joshua Taron is an Associate Professor of architecture at the University of Calgary’s School of Architecture, Planning and Landscape where he runs the Laboratory for Integrative Design (LID). His current research focuses on structurally intelligent swarms as an alternative to conventional wholesale building demolition by grafting complex morphological assemblies into existing buildings. This work is done in partnership with a variety of disciplines such as computer science, structural engineering and city planning.
