The Opportunity

Reporting to the manager, curatorial, the curatorial assistant, history is responsible for providing access to the cultural history and military history collections including documentation, records (electronic and written), and storage maintenance. The candidate will work closely with the COO & VP, engagement and curators.

Glenbow’s History collection focuses on southern Alberta, Canada, and international content.

The cultural history collection relates to settler life in southern Alberta. It includes a vast immigration collection of ethnic diversity amongst settlers to 1960, clothing and textiles, the Calgary Exhibition and Stampede, Canadian Pressed Glass and International Collections relating to the search for Franklin. The Military History Collection features Canadian uniforms, medals, orders and decorations, firearms and medieval and Samurai armour.
