Event Rental Supervisor

Festival Hall seeks an enthusiastic, energetic, and resourceful team player to fill a contract position as an Event Rental Supervisor. Under the Folk Festival Society of Calgary Festival Hall is a vibrant community hub for corporate and private functions and has been used for fashion events, film, food, music, dance, theatre, markets, meetings, and weddings.

This is an hourly contract, supervisory position, which requires flexibility in scheduling, and the ability to work into the evening.

Falling under the banner of the Folk Festival Society of Calgary (FFSC) which presents the annual Calgary Folk Music Festival, Block Heater, and a year-round concert series, Festival Hall is home to the FFSC offices and a 225 person capacity community rental space.

Reporting to the Festival Hall relationship manager and production manager, the ideal candidate would be a skilled communicator, with the ability to think on their feet and have a flexible schedule.

Key Activities& Responsibilities

Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Attending and supervising rental and co-production events at Festival Hall.
  • Liaising with Festival Hall renters and event planners during their rental period to ensure successful event execution.
  • Ensuring successful use of A/V equipment.
  • Monitoring facility for misuse and damage during events.
  • Monitoring liquor servers and patrons for overservice.
  • Ensuring proper waste diversion during and after events.
  • Reporting to CFMF staff regarding the state and needs of Festival Hall and it’s renters.

Requirements

  • The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, level-headed, and a good communicator, with experience in event management and/or planning.
  • Adaptable thinking and exceptional problem-solving skills.
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work late nights and weekends when required.
  • Basic knowledge of audio and video production and troubleshooting.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • This job requires occasional overhead work as well as lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.
  • Equally comfortable in formal and informal environments.

Benefits

  • Hourly remuneration is $20 per hour.
