Events and Community Coordinator

RedPoint Media Group is looking for an events and community coordinator to help run and grow the events series for Avenue and The Scene, as well as coordinate the efforts to grow our community outreach including event-related promotions, management and growth of the membership and subscription programs.

This part-time position will require approximately 20 hours a week, however we are willing to adjust the amount of hours for the right candidate. Salary will be approximately $30,000/year and will be commensurate with experience.

RedPoint Media has a hybrid office setup offering employees the opportunity to work from home or from the co-working space at CSpace Marda Loop. Some face-to-face meetings as well as event attendance are required.

Our Opportunity

The Events and Community Coordinator will:

  • Liaise with production/AV contractors and venue representatives.
  • Liaise with RedPoint editorial and design teams for presentation materials and scripts.
  • Liaise with the RedPoint sales team to ensure the fulfillment of sponsorship conditions.
  • Oversee event ticketing with providers such as Showpass and Ticketmaster.
  • Be on site during events to ensure things run smoothly.
  • Troubleshoot in the leadup to, and during events.
  • Organize and enlist adequate staffing for events (including staff volunteers from RedPoint).
  • Host regular status meetings in the leadup to the event and participate in event post-mortem meetings.
  • Coordinate the creation and distribution of promotional prize packages.
  • Manage member and subscriber communications including cross-platform promotional campaigns.
  • Manage member and subscriber lists and renewals.

Our Ideal candidate

Our Events and Community Coordinator will have:

  • Proven experience in planning and executing large-scale events and marketing initiatives for events and community outreach.
  • Knowledge of City of Calgary, Alberta Health Services and Alberta Gaming and Liquor Control Board permitting processes.
  • Experience working with and coordinating a range of vendors such as caterers and rental companies.
  • Prior experience with social media/content creation is an asset.
  • Personable and friendly.
  • A team player.

  • Detail-oriented and organized.
  • Able to keep a cool head in stressful situations.
  • Knowledgeable about the city.
  • Enthusiastic about creating exceptional experiences.
