Funding available: Activation of Firehall #1 Courtyard

Arts and cultural groups are invited to help transform the Historic Firehall #1 courtyard (104 6 Ave. SE) into a vibrant community space this summer through the new Historic Firehall #1 Courtyard Activation Grant.
Single‑day or multi‑day initiatives are eligible, as long as they take place in the courtyard between June 1 and September 30, 2026. Events may run once, over consecutive days, or recur over time.
This grant supports medium‑ and large‑scale initiatives, with up to $20,000 available per project. Applicants must contribute at least 25% of total project costs through cash or sponsorship. The City of Calgary will contribute up to 75% of eligible project costs, excluding in‑kind contributions.
All initiatives must be free or low‑cost to attend.
Initiative ideas include:
- Cultural festivals
- Live performances
- Interactive art installations
- Markets
- Workshops
- Community gatherings
- Or something entirely new!
