Le Cirque de la Nuit General Auditions

Le Cirque de la Nuit / Cirque Nuit Arts Foundation is always looking to grow and make new connections. We’re currently seeking submissions for auditions for 2024 and beyond for our annual and biennial Signature and Sideshow event productions, as well as our yearly corporate and festival performance bookings. This is an opportunity for us to meet emerging and established talent that are interested in working with Le Cirque de la Nuit in the future. We want to make relationships and connections in the Alberta circus community!

Le Cirque de la Nuit encourages submissions from diverse artists of all backgrounds, regardless of race, colour, national origin, age, religion, creed, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity. We welcome applicants to inform us of their pronouns if they wish, and to include details about how their identity informs their practice and needs as they feel comfortable.

All performers engaged with Le Cirque de la Nuit will be paid, with compensation depending on the type of performance.

All circus artists, regardless of their discipline(s) are welcome to submit. We understand that many artists are multi-disciplinary, so please include in your submission which discipline(s) you work in/you are interested in.

We are also specifically looking for the following collaborators for projects in the summer and fall 2024:

  • Clown/character performers
  • Aerialists: All apparatuses, but we are really interested in the following:
    • Corde Lisse, strap, lolipop and duo aerials (all apparatuses)
  • Cyr wheel
  • Acrobatics/tumbling
  • Hand to hand
  • Contortion
  • Hand balancing
  • Dance
Audition Information

Auditions will be held in person in Calgary with artistic director Kelley Matley. Meetings may also include show directors, including Andrew G. Cooper and others as appropriate.

Artists not able to make these in-person auditions may request a virtual audition or submit a self-tape/video sample.

Only those chosen by our artistic team will be invited to audition. Those selected will be provided with more information on what to expect and prepare ahead of time.
