Winter Workshops

The deadline for this opportunity has passed.

The GlobalFest Urban Arts Program uses the foundations of hip-hop culture to improve the lives of young Canadians. This specialized arts curriculum helps youth build mental wellness and confidence while developing artistic skill sets.

Our mission is committed to building the understanding of diversity by enriching students’ experiences in addition to the arts, culture and heritage programs delivered in Calgary schools.

From January 13 to April 22, 2020, the GlobalFest Urban Arts Program is offering three dynamic and engaging after school winter workshops at the Sunalta Community Hall.

Monday: Breaking + Street Dance

Breaking is rooted in hip-hop culture. This dance consists of footwork, freezes, top rock, power moves and is characterized by each dancer individually. Students will explore the wide range of possibilities in the class with Kevin Choo—from training to battles, choreography and cyphering.

Tuesday: Visual Street Art – From Pencil to Paint

Traditional art classes can be so mundane. With the influence of graffiti and hip-hop street culture, Alex Kwong with challenge youth to apply thought and style to artistic expression and a variety of canvases.
Art program may have an additional fee for materials
