Grapple Lab: Imagine This
This month’s episode: cultural humility
A place of reflection and conversation hosted by People of Design to share practices and learnings and take them into our own communities. It is also a space of support, co-design and coalition building where we spark each other’s imaginations to grapple with emergent issues.
People of Design (POD), the project guide for this resource, is a co-design company founded by Queer and Trans people with disabilities to innovate inclusive practices of community co-design and to share research findings publicly and transparently.
This is not an academic exercise. We are coming together as community to grapple with what is going on in the here and now and how to support each other in the real time real actions of change. This is a space that values interdependence recognizing that we can all learn from each other. We can all help each other.
In this Grapple Lab we continue the conversation through cultural humility on power mapping: acknowledging & identifying the power you bring. Show us your personal institutional structural peacock feathers to examine how they inform, shape and obstruct how we can navigate spaces.
ASL will be provided.
Imagine This is a creative commons resource that emerged from Calgary Arts Development’s (CADA) efforts to document, learn and instigate real actions of change in their Equity Diversity Inclusivity + Accessibility Journey. We are grateful for their willingness to make the findings and recommendations public and available to all.
The 2023 Grapple Lab series will resume regularly on the last Monday of each month on May 29.
