Who we are looking for
We are hiring a local Calgary/Area powwow dancer who can dance Fancy Shawl and Jingle Dress, or is open to learning the second style.
We are also open to contemporary Indigenous dancers who are willing to train in powwow dance styles. There is an opportunity to learn how to hoop dance as part of Wild Mint Arts.
This person should be open to learning and helping create team dances in both styles. The dancer must have their own vehicle.
We ask that the dancer shows up to regular rehearsals and arrive to shows 60 minutes prior to show start time. The dancer should preferably have their own regalia in one of the styles and we can provide regalia for the other dance style until the dancer has their own.
Renumeration
Depending on the performance, we offer $100 – $500 per show, and we often provide mileage and hotels for out-of-town performances. This is a contract position and each show has its own contract. Shows often happen in December, May, June, July, and September. We often travel across country on multi-show tours and provide flights or mileage and per diems for touring opportunities.
