International Jazz Days
The deadline for this opportunity has passed.
In response to the need for social isolation, JazzYYC is partnering with Jazz Home Delivery to create our first-ever virtual edition of the JazzYYC International Jazz Days Festival running from April 30 to May 27, 2020.
The festival will feature daily live stream events highlighting Calgary artists with select artists from the rest of Canada which aim to be entertaining, musical, informative and delivered in a professional manner. It will also feature a series of informative educational jazz podcasts created by Calgary artists.
JazzYYC is calling for submissions from artists that have the ability to connect via the internet from their homes with audio and video. Jazz Home Delivery episodes will utilize a specialized Facebook studio production suite to connect with you. All you require is a smartphone, tablet or computer with a camera and a stable WiFi connection. You will be sent a link to connect via the production software. For podcasts, artists will be asked to record audio and video and upload via a link to JazzYYC.
Jazz Home Delivery Expectations
Be lively and engaging, perform at least once (either solo, with track or play short examples), dress like you’re doing a gig, be real, talk about your life, be prepared to talk about uneasy things, but also be ready to have fun!
Podcast Expectations
Create an educational podcast that is unique, engaging and has a specific jazz focus. Explorations of Calgary, Alberta, and Western Canada preferred but not required. Some examples are jazz trumpet players in Western Canada, the history of Calgary jazz drummers, educational information for musicians or jazz fans. Send us your proposal. Expected podcast length is five to 10 minutes
For more information and to submit, visit smartsheet.com and visit facebook.com for more details.
Artists chosen will be compensated $200 for their Jazz Home Delivery appearance or podcast. Submissions have been extended until the end of day April 7, 2020.
