In-Person Printmaking Workshop

Non-Traditional Photopolymer with Kate Baillies

Discover a fluid and spontaneous method of working on photopolymer plates! On the heels of Zea Mays Printmaking’s Virtual World Tour and as demonstrated on stop #2 of the tour, Kate Baillies will walk you through Non-Traditional Photopolymer.

In this workshop, you will learn how to prepare the photopolymer plate with relief ink, to then explore some of mark-making possibilities by drawing into and creating textures on the inked surface. The techniques introduced in this workshop are akin to the idea of creating a monoprint on a photosensitive coating. The resulting image is then exposed to UV light and developed in water. There are also some post-exposure opportunities for mark-marking, as well!

This workshop will also include some time at the press to print and discover what you have made. Super-fun and instantly gratifying—presented in the small but mighty A/P Studio facilities!
