Marketing and Communications Specialist
Hours: Full-time 37.5 hours per week
Lougheed House Conservation Society, the non-profit organization which stewards Lougheed House National and Provincial Historic Site in Calgary’s Beltline neighbourhood, is building a dynamic team and is looking for exceptional talent to help shape the future of this important community gathering place. This is a great opportunity for an early-stage marketing professional who is keen to have a chance to build their portfolio and gain experience in all facets of marketing and communications activities as the lead team member for this area.
What will I be doing?
Reporting to the executive director, this role is responsible for playing a key role on the team, collaborating with the rest of the team to build public awareness and engagement of the ways the Society seeks to serve the community by bringing neighbours together. Your goal will be to increase engagement with guests and external stakeholders and drive traffic to Lougheed House through compelling marketing and communications tactics.
- Responsible for production of brochures and other print materials for marketing products and/or services (e.g., newsletters, mailouts, forms, etc.).
- Monitor, manage and measure online marketing tools – including website and social media channels such as LinkedIn, Facebook and Instagram.
- Use SEO to drive traffic and increase awareness of Lougheed House’s services among current and potential customers, visitors, and other external stakeholders.
- Actively participate in planning and attending events that promote Lougheed House
- Research and write content for a variety of external and internal communications channels, including but not limited to websites, social media, newsletters, media releases, Q & A, fact sheets.
- Maintain and manage an up-to-date inventory of communications and marketing materials including email lists.
- Contribute to the development of internal and external communications plans and assist in the development and maintenance of organizational communication tools.
- Creation of visually engaging graphics, collateral, and marketing assets to support Lougheed House’s ongoing mission to fully engage our customers and external stakeholders and provide the best possible customer service experience.
What do I need to succeed?
- Post-Secondary degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, Business, or a related discipline from a recognized post-secondary institution. A combined communications and marketing skill set is preferred but not required.
- A minimum of 2 –4 years’ experience in a non-profit environment is preferred.
- Proven track record of being a self-driven project manager who can work independently and within a team.
- The ability to collaborate with co-workers and report to the Executive Director on the progress of projects in a timely manner.
- Experience managing a website and social media accounts.
- Basic video and graphic design skills would be considered an asset.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Familiarity with not-for-profit sector.
- Highly motivated and can work independently when needed.
- A positive can-do attitude, interest in having fun, and excitement at the prospect of working as a key part of a small but mighty team.
