We cultivate curiosity by elevating and sharing exploratory music and interdisciplinary art with wide-eared artists, performers and listeners in Calgary and beyond.

The marketing coordinator will:

  • Create social media events and postings (primarily Instagram and Facebook) for New Works Calgary 2022/2023 season events.
    • 2x concerts.
    • 6 soundwalks.
    • 1x community engaged art project – could involve up to 4x workshops, and an event.
    • 3 public educational workshops.
  • Create strategic timelines for social media postings to go live, and implement deadlines for content required from artists, partner presenters, and artistic director.
  • Ensure the main New Works Calgary website is up-to-date, section-by-section: Main Presentations, Workshops, & Traceries (where we archive articles by our staff writer).
  • Create Showpass (ticketing) events and links for each event.
  • Manage Facebook and Instagram advertising.
  • Coordinate with and manage press information from artists – for example bios and photos.
  • Write and distribute press releases.
  • Support artistic director in making and managing guest lists.
  • Work with the artistic director to manage the mixtape project (we invite artists to create tracklists of their favourite music to help promote events).
  • Work with the artistic director and staff writer to ensure newsletters contain appropriate and timely content, and are distributed on time.

  Skills required:

  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Strong written communication skills.
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • At least one year experience in a digital/social media marketing position at a non-profit or corporate organization (or are currently enrolled in a professional training program).
  • Passion for music (particularly experimental or otherwise strange music) an asset.
  • Experience in or demonstrated willingness to research and implement marketing strategies in the entertainment / performing arts field.
