The Opportunity
The marketing officer prepares, implements, and evaluates marketing and communication plans for Banff Centre in collaboration with program, service, and administrative areas. The objective of this position is to increase awareness, understanding, appreciation and participation in events, programs, conferences, and services of Banff Centre.
Roles and Responsibilities
Reporting to the marketing director, below are some key accountabilities:
- Prepare and present strategy, implement plans to execute campaign deliverables and evaluate marketing and communication plans in conjunction with program areas.
- Develop and maintain budgets for marketing and communications plans, materials and activities; track spending; and provide monthly and quarterly financial reports.
- Create, coordinate and distribute promotional materials and other assets for marketing.
- Develop and maintain relevant contact databases for the successful implementation of marketing and communications plans.
- Show leadership in positioning and branding Banff Centre by communicating and implementing the key messages and visual identity adopted by Banff Centre.
- Work with Development and the program areas to develop and implement fundraising proposals.
- Create reports and analyze data related to marketing and communications initiatives.
- Organize and maintain records and archives of all promotional material produced.
Qualifications and Educational Requirements
- 5+ years of related experience is required.
- Undergraduate degree or diploma in communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field.
- Experience with an arts organization, tourism and hospitality, entertainment, or a conference/business centre is required.
- Experience with arts marketing, post-secondary education marketing, B2B marketing, event planning, destination marketing and/or tour operators is an asset.
- Thorough knowledge of marketing and communications practices and planning.
- Exceptional customer service skills that focus on understanding needs of the client, such as programs, services and administrative areas.
- Excellent interpersonal communication.
- Highly motivated; self-starter with the ability to work under broad direction without close supervision.
- Strong creative thinking with a keen attention to detail.
- Strong organization and project management skills with ability to successfully manage multiple tasks and projects.
- Strong copywriting skills.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and tasks.
- Budgeting experience.
- Proficient with MS Office Suite of products and familiarity with digital and email marketing.
- A team player with excellent interpersonal communication.
- Effective problem solver with the ability to seek collaborative and creative solutions.
- Bilingual (French and English) is an asset.
Special Requirements
Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.
Employment Terms and Benefits:
- In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, salaried support staff position, subject to a 6 month probation period.
- The annual salary for this position is $59,196, based on working 40 hours per week.
- The successful candidate will have access to a range of benefits through Alberta Blue Cross and will be eligible to participate in our defined benefit pension plan.
