About MAUD Collective

We make aesthetic-driven activations and experiences that are led by the community.

Initially founded in 2016 as Buds Collective, the collective was founded as a response to saving the old Buds Office Furniture store located in Calgary. The initial collective was a group of makers and creatives who wanted to activate the historic building and secure finances in order to develop the site as a creative space for makers, artists, urbanists, and designers.

In 2020, Buds Collective rebranded as the MAUD Collective in order to better define the organization as a company dedicated to creative culture, experiences, and placemaking. Using engagement as the main driver, MAUD fosters a creative community through its commitment to supporting, compensating and providing development opportunities to local artists while engaging them in local experiences with technology and place.

Our Principles for Great Activation

  • Engage people (process-based design thinking, co-authorship, inclusion, diversity, community-led, participatory creation, research)
  • Craft meaningful experiences (art, animation, music, environment design, aesthetic development)
  • Utilize innovative technologies (AR, social media, gamification, festival app & multimedia communications)
  • Frame place (placemaking, activations, pop-ups, gorilla interventions, installations, identity creation, wayfinding)

Our vision is to deliver our clients successful aesthetic-driven activations that will engage with their communities in ways that are meaningful and memorable.

Our mission is to support creative culture by providing opportunities, visibility, fair compensation, and access to tools and resources for artists, makers, and designers.

Engage a wide audience in meaningful place-based cultural activations by using innovative tools and processes.
