Poster Call
National Indigenous History Month
The Calgary Public Library seeks an Indigenous artist to create a poster celebrating the library’s programs and events for National Indigenous History Month in June 2023.
The 11×17 inch poster should have elements of the design that can be broken out into other promotional assets including web and social media for the purpose of advertising the library’s planned programs and events in June.
All Indigenous artists with a connection to Calgary, particularly those with connection to the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), Iethka Stoney-Nakoda (Chiniki, Good Stoney, and Bearspaw), and Tsuut’ina Nations and Calgary’s urban Indigenous community, Métis Nation Region (MNA) 3 are encouraged to apply.
Art featured in the poster should come from knowledge and understanding of the significant cultural heritage and legacy of Indigenous people. We invite artists to bring their Indigenous identities, histories, cultures, languages and traditional ways of knowing to the public through this library project.
