Arts Assessment in the Classroom
Hey K-12 teachers! Are you and your students bored of writing and grading tests and looking for more creative ways to assess your students’ learning? The arts can be a great assessment tool in the classroom!
Join us on May 29, 2023 for a three-hour workshop covering arts assessment in the classroom and let us show you how.
Date & Time: Monday, May 29, 2023, 9am to 12noon
Location: Beddington Theatre Arts Centre Price: $60 per participant Class Size: Maximum 20 participants, minimum of 5In this workshop, participants will be introduced to varying ways of assessing learning through activities such as drama games, music and other arts activities in order to gauge student retention and skill development in the classroom.

About the Instructor: Aliza Sarian
Aliza Sarian was a theatre arts teacher for 15 years at a public middle school in New York City. Her curriculum focused on storytelling, character development, ensemble-building, physical theatre, devising and playwriting. She has facilitated professional development and new teacher-training with the Calgary Catholic School District, the New York City Department of Education, NYU, among others. She’s performed with New York University’s New Plays for Young Audiences series and worked as an actor, playwright and dramaturg for The Bechdel Group. She currently resides in Calgary with her husband and two dogs, Olive & Pickle, and was seen onstage this season with SBT in Peter and the Star Catcher. Aliza is also the director of StoryBook’s upcoming production of Disney’s Newsies.
