The Opportunity
The visual art instructors inspire students aged 3 to adults through engaging art programs in one or more of the following medias: cartooning, manga, drawing, watercolour, painting and mixed media, oil painting, charcoal, mosaic and fibre arts, and more. The instructors plan and deliver lessons that nurture creativity and artistic skills.
Responsibilities include:
- Develop, plan and teach engaging program/s with a focus on student progression in artistic discipline
- Coach, provide expertise and constructive feedback to students throughout the program
- Ensure a safe, inclusive and enjoyable environment for the students
- Uphold rules and guidelines within the facility
- Provide customer service and communication to parents, children and the public
- Teach fundamental art skills and principles, staying current in best practices and techniques
- Maintain program equipment, supplies, and cleanliness of program space
You Bring:
- Degree in fine arts education and/or a teaching certification in visual arts
- Current Standard First Aid – Level C CPR and AED Vulnerable Sector
- 3+ years of instructional experience in visual arts
- Experience in supervising children between the ages of 3-12 (for children’s programs only)
- Experience in visual arts is essential
- Experience working with a team and the ability to foster a strong team environment within the camp
- Motivated and enthusiastic disposition
- Flexible and adaptable to changing situations
- Demonstrated positive attitude
- Proven capacity to assess situations, draw appropriate conclusions and make sound decisions
- Superior customer service skills with the ability to work well with children
- Demonstrated problem solving skills with the ability to effectively manage and resolve day-to-day issues as they arise
- Mature and reliable with outstanding dependability
- Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- High level of initiative and creativity

Additional Information
This competition is for casual part-time Performing and Visual Arts Instructors (hours are not guaranteed). Remuneration for preparation or administration time will be determined together with the facilitator for each class.
Availability: Monday to Friday from 4pm to 9pm and Saturday mornings depending on the class.
