PowerUP is a free, government-funded program for women and women-identified entrepreneurs to access mentorship and resources to help them start and grow their businesses. It is funded through YW Calgary and is part of a national program to reduce barriers to entrepreneurship.

If you are interested, below is more information about the program with two streams depending on the interest level. Again, it’s free and might be a good fit for artists who have or want to start their businesses. Feel free to forward any of this to your networks if you think it could be a good fit.


It’s a 10–week virtual program developed to educate on all components of running a business, as well as peer networking, guest industry experts and 1:1 coaching. Upon program completion, graduates will have a professionally developed business plan to launch or scale up their business. It will be offered 4x per year with start dates in October, January, April and July.

It’s a 4–module virtual program over four weeks for women who are just considering self-employment or in the very early stages of starting a business – the lifestyle impact, financial obligations, high-level overview of running a business, including market research, customer segments and budgeting.
