Evergreen Theatre & Community SPACES is hiring.

Operating since 1991, Evergreen Theatre produces curriculum-based musical theatre touring shows and artist-in-residency programs for schools as well as camps, custom workshops, presentations, and activities for conferences and organizations across Alberta.

In addition, Evergreen owns and operates a unique, 24,000 square foot facility in NE Calgary, Evergreen Community SPACES, which offers flexible studios, offices, production and performance space.

Evergreen is seeking a highly flexible and dynamic individual to join our team who will be responsible for a wide range of diverse tasks for both the programming and facility branches of our organization.

Under the supervision of the Evergreen Theatre Director of Programming, the successful applicant will assist with various aspects of Evergreen programming management (ie. touring show, residencies, custom programming).

Responsibilities may include: 

  • Marketing and social media.
  • Organizing actor and school logistics.
  • Communicating with teacher contacts and Evergreen artists.
  • Booking and contracting.
  • Billing/invoicing.
  • Management of client database.
  • Grant writing/fund development.
  • Tour production assistance.
  • Working in schools as a residency artist.
  • Research.
  • Program and show production assistance.

Under the direction of the Facility Manager and Executive Director, the successful applicant will assist with various aspects of the operation and management of Evergreen Community Spaces. Responsibilities may include:

  • Liaising with clients.
  • Marketing and social media.
  • Miscellaneous administrative duties.
  • Billing/invoicing.
  • Maintenance.
  • Event supervision.
  • Tech support.
  • Grant writing/fund development.
  • Hands-on physical work.
  • Research.


  • A high level of personal maturity and responsibility.
  • Strong technical ability.
  • Ability to work efficiently independently and as part of a team.
  • Degree in a related field and/ or more than three years of relevant experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, critical thinking and listening skills.
  • Creative, out-of-box thinker.
  • Works well in high-pressure and non-traditional environments.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to work comfortably with staff, clients and other key stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in electronic record keeping/database management and Microsoft Office programs.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills along with the ability to work well in a busy environment.
  • A strong detail/results-oriented work ethic.
  • A pragmatic and effective problem-solver.
  • Commitment to accountability in working within a charitable organization.
  • Valid driver’s licence with a clean driving abstract and ability to drive Evergreen vehicles when necessary, access to reliable transportation.
  • Ideal applicant will have preferred prioritized interest in arts admin and operation.
  • Likes to have fun and give back to the community.

Job Details:

  • This is a temporary position for nine months, October 2018 to June 2019.
  • Full-time (40hr/wk) preferred but will consider part-time for the right applicant
  • $20 – $22/hr.
  • Full health benefits included.
  • This position will include evening and weekend responsibilities when required
  • Valid police check required.
