About the Creative City Network of Canada

The Creative City Network of Canada (CCNC) is a national non-profit organization connecting municipalities, organizations, and individuals working to advance cultural development in communities across Canada. Through knowledge-sharing, professional development, and collaboration, CCNC supports and enhances cultural policy, planning, and research at the local level.

CCNC’s Public Art Advisory Council (PAAC) represents public art programs and initiatives across Canada. It guides public art engagement, online content development, and event programming within CCNC.

The Opportunity: Project Coordinator

CCNC is seeking a part-time project coordinator to develop and implement a webinar series exploring best practices in public art procurement. Supported by a Canada Council for the Arts grant, this project aims to engage artists and public art professionals, identify innovative procurement strategies, and provide an update to CCNC’s Public Art Toolkit.

Working closely with CCNC’s Executive Director and the PAAC Project Steering Committee, the Project Coordinator will manage project logistics, engage presenters, liaise with stakeholders, and promote the webinar series. The role will also involve compiling insights into emerging trends and best practices in public art procurement, as well as preparing the project’s final report.

The ideal candidate is creative, highly organized, and knowledgeable about public art practices, with proven experience in project coordination and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and PAAC Project Steering Committee to design and deliver a webinar series in three to four parts.
  • Review and identify updates to CCNC’s Public Art Toolkit, including interviews with public art professionals, artists, and organizations (e.g., CARFAC).
  • Coordinate project timelines and deliverables to ensure successful completion.
  • Liaise with stakeholders across Canada to gather insights and facilitate collaboration.
  • Draft contracts, planning documents, and other project-related materials.
  • Assist in promoting the webinar series in collaboration with CCNC’s Communications Associate.
  • Identify and compile best practices and trends in Canadian public art procurement to inform Toolkit updates.
  • Provide analysis and reporting on public art procurement strategies.
  • Prepare the final project report for Canada Council for the Arts, with input from the PAAC Project Steering Committee and under the Executive Director’s guidance.
  • Perform additional project-related tasks as required.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in project coordination, preferably in arts and culture. Public art experience is a strong asset.
  • Understanding of public art procurement strategies is desirable.
  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant field, such as Art History, Curatorial Practice, Architecture, Urban Design, Landscape Architecture, Arts Administration, or Cultural Programming, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in productivity tools (CCNC uses Google Workspace).
  • Experience managing virtual programming (CCNC uses Zoom).

In accordance with CCNC’s Inclusivity, Diversity, Equity, Accessibility (IDEA) practices, preference will be given to members of the following designated groups: Indigenous Peoples, people with disabilities, racialized people and gender diverse peoples.

Candidates from these groups who wish to qualify for preferential consideration must self-identify in their cover letter.

Compensation:

  • Hourly Rate: $30 – $40, depending on experience
  • Allowances: Remote work and cell phone allowances provided
  • Project Hours: 300 – 400 (anticipated)
