Project Manager, artStory
The listing period for this opportunity has expired.
Who We Are
Indefinite Arts Centre is Canada’s oldest and largest disability arts organization—providing artistic training, creation, exhibition, and presentation opportunities for artists living with developmental and/or physical disabilities.
A charitable, non-profit organization, the centre has been recognized as a thought leader and genuine innovator in providing world-class opportunities for our artists to grow, shine, and be recognized—as artists.
Who We Are Looking For
The centre is looking for a part-time (approximately 20 hours/week) project manager for artStory. With a generous investment made by the Canada Council for the Arts’ Digital Strategy Fund, Indefinite Arts Centre will be leading the nation in developing an online platform that provides an authentic representation of the breadth of skills and talents of not only the centre’s participating artists, but artists across Canada and the US who identify as having a disability. The project manager, reporting to the CEO, will be responsible for moving the project forward, in tandem with our designated firm that will lead the development of this online platform—dubbed artStory.
The Ideal Candidate
The project manager is extremely focused at ensuring all the little and big parts of the project move ahead on schedule, so experience managing projects of complexity is a definite requirement. In addition, a relatively advanced knowledge of online platform development is a real “plus,” as well as knowledge around accessibility challenges facing individuals with disabilities accessing and creating content online.
But there’s more, the project manager will absolutely have to be a people person, with absolute comfort working with and learning from participating artists with disabilities. Personal experience working with individuals with developmental and/or physical disabilities is a definite asset.
Perhaps most importantly, the ideal candidate has an unwavering desire of getting the job done. A common mantra among the centre’s team members is “bigger, faster, better,” indicating the organization’s desire to move quickly and achieve the best results possible in service of the artists we support.
What We Provide
The project manager will be hired on as an independent contractor and therefore will not be eligible for our benefits. However, there is a competitive remuneration package (to be discussed at time of recruitment) along with flexible hours afforded to the candidate. A police check will be required, and references will be asked at the appropriate time during the recruitment process.
You will be onboarded as a full-on member of the IAC team—and we’re tons of fun!
