Public Art Interior City Hall Red Deer, Alberta: 2D Artworks with AR (augmented reality) Component
In response to the newly renovated interior of city hall, the project team seeks an artwork that expresses innovation while evoking ecological concepts through a creative portrayal of natural habitats of the region. This artwork will be a fusion of nature and technology; new media art (augmented reality) and traditional art forms (photography, 2D digital prints, painting or other), thus inspiring interaction, learning and reflection for the public that visits city hall.
Canadian-based artists (including artist teams) are invited to submit their portfolios and statement of interest to the first stage of a two-stage competition for a public artwork to be installed in City Hall, 4914 48th Avenue, Red Deer.
Electronic bid submissions only, shall be received by the bidding system, no later than 4:00:59pm, MT on December 20, 2022.

Up to three shortlisted artists will be selected by January 31, 2023
Project Budget: $45,000
Completion Date: Autumn 2023
Shortlisted artists/artist teams will receive a stipend of $1,500 to submit a detailed proposal and give a 15-minute virtual presentation to the Public Art Commission on March 8, 2023, between 5– 7pm MT.
