Scholarships for Art Students
Every year Alberta Society of Artists awards one graduate and two undergraduate students with scholarships pursuing a degree in fine arts in a post-secondary institution. The applicants must be a full-time student and a resident of Alberta.
Undergraduate students must be taking second and third-year courses predominantly.
Graduate students must be focusing on studio practice only.
To submit for the scholarship the students must submit artworks to be considered for the scholarship. These artworks can consist of painting, drawing, sculpture, digital media or installation.
Five to six images of artwork for undergraduate scholarship applicants, they will also receive an opportunity to submit those artworks for our upcoming exhibition titled Emerging Artists Unleashed: 2020, on display at The University of Alberta Extension Gallery in Edmonton from March 30 to April 19, 2020, and in Calgary (TBA). Catalogues are also published for this exhibition.
Submission Requirement for Undergraduate Students
- One artist resume or CV.
- Application form (available online).
- Up-to-date unofficial transcript from a post-secondary institution. If recently transfer to a new institution, then provide a transcript from the previous institution as well.
- Four to six artwork images in JPG format
- Artist statement pertaining to the body of work submitted.
Submission Requirement for Graduate Students Focusing on Studio Practice only
- One artist resume or CV.
- Application form (available online or via mail).
- Up-to-date Unofficial Transcript from a post-secondary institution. If recently transfer to a new institution, then provide a transcript from the previous institution as well.
- Five to seven artwork images in JPG format.
- Artist statement pertaining to the body of work submitted.
- Letter of support from graduate supervisor via email by the professor using their institution email address (not his personal email) if submitting via online application. Please email at submissions@albertasocietyofartists.com, or they can be mailed to the ASA office (must be in school letterhead and in a sealed envelope). The mail must be received no later than Monday, January 6, 2020.
