Set decoration fundamentals with Mike Kasper: Learn what it takes to bring a movie to life through exceptional set decoration.
Set decoration visually communicates time, place, and tone. A well-decorated set immerses the audience in the world of the film, making scenes more believable and emotionally impactful. Whether it’s a cluttered apartment or a grand palace, every object contributes to storytelling. It transforms a script into a living, breathing environment, turning fiction into a tangible cinematic experience.

About Mike Kasper
Mike Kasper is a production designer for film and TV. He’s worked on such things as True Fiction and the upcoming This Too Shall Pass.
This event is sponsored by the Calgary Society of Independent Filmmakers. CSIF was founded in 1978 by a collective of twelve filmmakers who saw the growing need for film resources and film equipment on the traditional Treaty 7 territory of the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina, the Iyarhe Nakoda Nations, the Métis Nation (Region 3), also known as Calgary, Alberta. Now over 40 years later we are an integral part of the growing cultural community in Calgary and are excited about new collaborations and opportunities.
